UK’s 4x4 Magazine recently hosted their prestigious 4x4 of the Year Awards, seeing the renowned Jeep Wrangler taking the Special Off-Road Award.

Annually, an expert panel of judges from 4x4 Magazine – one of the world’s most prominent 4x4 publications – puts a number of renowned four-wheel-drive vehicles to the test, from a variety of manufacturers around the world. The judges score these vehicles based on their on-road and incredibly tough off-road evaluation, before delivering the verdict. They have a number of classes and awards including Small, Medium, and Large SUV, Performance SUV; and the Best Off-Roader Special Awards include Best Value, Off-Road Award, and 4x4 Manufacturer of the Year.

A panel of expert judges concluded that the Jeep Wrangler ranked highly above other similar capable competitors, after putting this new fourth generation model to the test.

The Off-Road Award special category focuses solely on how the vehicle performs off-road, and the Jeep Wrangler far exceeded judges’ expectations!

The new Jeep Wrangler was launched last September across Europe, proving its worth on the city streets just as well as off the path. This brings the Jeep’s legendary off-road abilities, and combines it with on-road comfort, style, and state-of-the-art technology.

The new Wrangler is the most capable of its kind, and has unmatched technical content. Depending on trim, the new Wrangler also includes advanced four-wheel and on-demand full time systems; with Command-Trac and Rock-Trac, plus Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axles lockers, Trac-Lok slip differential and electronic front anti-roll bar disconnect.

Wrangler’s engine range has also been updated, including the introduction of a 2.2-litre turbo diesel providing 200hp and a 2.0-litre petrol engine providing 272hp. A first for this model is also that both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
